Scott Pilgrim vs The World Complete Edition Review

It has been 10 years since the original Scott Pilgrim game has been released and I have to say the game has aged very well. Back when it was released side scrolling Beat’em Up games were not doing so good and but when Scott Pilgrim it showed a lot of potential for them to exist in the gaming world. The ratings for the games were off the charts and it did create a cult following.

10 years later and Ubisoft decided to re-release the game on all platforms due to the success of some of the releases of current gaming titles like Streets of Rage 4 and Battletoads. I have to say that this re-release is just what this game needed. If you are not familiar with this game, strap in and let nostalgia take over.

Scott Pilgrim for me was first introduced as a cinematic movie with main actors played by Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Little did they know that this movie would turn into a cult classic and start something very special for the movie and gaming franchise. The game is based around Scott wanting to date Ramona Flowers but in order for them to be together Scott has to fighter and defeat her 7 ex-boyfriends.

The visuals of this game are just as stunning as the game originally released. The comic book looks and feel of the game is very entertaining. 10 years of aging have done Scott Pilgrim well and this style fits right in with past games that have released in 2020.

The game is jam packed with multiple different types of game modes that you can try. They even have the multiplayer up and running that way you can play with your friends and family. Now I will say it is a bit of a grindy game considering you cannot just save and exit whenever you want. If you want to play through the game till the end you will have to do it in one sitting or make sure you do not exit out of your game playthrough. But as a whole, it is addicting as ever.

Lately is the music to the game. I feel that the music to the game was always the best part. Even in the cinematic movie the music just got you pumped and wanting more. It is an 8-bit style of listening and every track that they have put in the game just hits a different way. While I was playing there were times I wouldn’t even progress to the next section of the game because the music was just so entertaining.

As a whole this game came out at the right time and with everything that has been going on in the world, this is definitely a game that will keep you motivated and happy throughout the months to come. If you have never played Scott Pilgrim vs The World, now is a better time than ever to give it a try. Play with friends or just solo it to see how far you can get.
