The State of Army Innovation: A One-of-a-Kind Candid Conversation Including XVIII Airborne Corps Commander, Palantir Defense Lead, West Point Innovation Expert and Director of the Army’s Innovation Laboratory – Livestream on March 13

(AUSTIN, TEXAS – March 9, 2023; source: Army Applications Laboratory) — Army Applications Laboratory (AAL) announces The State of Army Innovation 2023, the first installment of an annual conversation intended to give Army and DoD senior leaders, commanders, innovators, and investors a chance to hear straightforward and honest perspectives from leaders at the center of defense innovation issues. The State of Army Innovation will be livestreamed and recorded during South by Southwest (SXSW), Monday, March 13 at 3 p.m. Central from a private, intimate setting. To view the livestream, please visit AAL’s YouTube page here. To request a copy of the recording, contact here.

“This isn’t another panel where we regurgitate talking points,” said Colonel Jay Wisham, director of Army Applications Laboratory. “I think people who are making serious decisions about their investments, their futures, the future of the country deserve to hear the thinking of people who are affecting and are affected by the choices the service makes about how we approach transformation. What we hope is that this will flatten conversation and stimulate more people to be a part of it, to communicate openly and honestly, vertically and laterally. It’s an innovation best practice.”

Participants for this conversation include: Lieutenant General Chris “CD” Donahue, commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps, parent unit of storied formations including the 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne Divisions; Mr. Abdul Subhani, civilian aide to Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth and Distinguished Chair of Innovation and Strategic Engagement at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; Mr. Doug Philippone, Global Defense lead for Palantir Technologies and co-founder of venture capital firm Snowpoint Ventures; and Colonel Jay Wisham, director of Army Applications Laboratory.

Additionally, be sure to check out AAL’s LIVE Podcast Studio @ Capital Factory – during SXSW, tune into the AAL podcast series, recording live from March 10 – 12 with several broadcasts each day. You’ll hear thoughtful conversations about the future of technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and more. Broadcasts will take place on AAL social channels. For a schedule of podcasts, see here.
