Los Angeles, CA – Sarah Tromley, now performing as Rexford, invites listeners to join her on an intimate journey with the release of her latest EP, Clear My Heart. Tromley describes her new moniker as “a symbolic representation of the place that allowed me to heal and grow: my home on Rexford Drive.” With Clear My Heart, Rexford bares her soul, offering a touching exploration of vulnerability, love, and a voyage of self-discovery. Rexford doesn’t run away from the moments that shaped her, but instead embraces the scars that made her. Featuring six deeply personal tracks, Clear My Heart serves as a diary of emotions, with Tromley’s raw and powerful lyrics translating her innermost thoughts and experiences. “This EP is a Polaroid of feelings and not an image of glamour,” explains Rexford. “My EP is a collective of songs that truly came from my heart. I have found the beauty in the imperfect moments that shape us and leave scars that create who we are. I have found healing in looking in the mirror and sitting in silence with my inner child. I have found purpose in learning how to grow again in my late 20s; always healing, never healed.”
The EP features “One Horse Town,” co-written and produced by Twin Shadow, a heartwarming track reflecting on letting go of the things you’ve outgrown while understanding their purpose in your story. Additionally, “Save You Back,” produced by Jason Kellner, beautifully showcases Rexford’s ability to craft emotionally resonant narratives. A previously unreleased standout track on the EP is “Meet You Again,” inspired by Tromley’s own experience of miscarriage. The song aims to challenge societal stigmas surrounding women’s reproductive health. “I find there is so much shame and blame around women miscarrying—I wanted to create a different narrative,” says Rexford.
Alongside Clear My Heart, Tromley wrote, co-produced, and starred in her very own short film entitled Rexford, which serves as a companion piece to her music. The film, which features an all-original soundtrack compiled of songs from Clear My Heart, recently garnered significant critical acclaim. It won “Best Women Short,” “Best Original Song,” and “Best Indie Short” at Indie Short Fest along with an honorable mention from ATX Short Film Showcase and was a finalist at the Rome Music Video Awards. The short film will be released later this year.
