ONE OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST ENTERTAINMENT MEMORABILIA AUCTIONS CLOSES AFTER FOUR DAYS OF BIDDING, WITH OVER 1,500 LOTS SELLING FOR AN IMPRESSIVE £12.5 MILLION**
Propstore – one of the world’s leading Entertainment Memorabilia Auctioneers has closed its annual UK live auction featuring over 1,500 lots of iconic film, television and music memorabilia, with lots selling for £12.5 million ($14,375,000).
The auction began live at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, London on Thursday 3rd November, with an impressive amount of bidding in the room and from online bidders across the globe. Amongst the lots sold on Day 1 was Andy Dufresne’s (Tim Robbins) Screen-matched Rockhammer Bible from The Shawshank Redemption (1994) selling for £387,500 ($445,625) and Superman’s (Christopher Reeve) Complete Costume from the Superman Franchise (1978-1987) selling for an incredible £312,500 ($359,375)
The second day (Friday 4th November) of the 1,500-lot auction, saw over 170 lots of music memorabilia go under the hammer, with notable sales including (sale prices inclusive of buyer’s premium):
- Oasis songwriter, Noel Gallagher’s 1962 Epiphone Casino Guitar selling for £56,250 ($64,688)
- The Beatles icon, Paul McCartney’s Photo-Authenticated Morecambe & Wise Show Striped Blazer sold for £40,625 ($46,718)
- Handwritten Lyrics by Noel Gallagher for the Oasis hit, Wonderwall sold for £46,875 ($53,906)
- A set of Altec 605A Abbey Road Studio Monitors, which feature in Peter Jackon’s 2021 Beatles documentary, Get Back sold for £75,000 ($86,250)
- Legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Slash’s Leather Jacket from the Paradise City Music Video and Appetite for Destruction Album sold for £34,375 ($39,530)
The remaining two days of the live auction (Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November), saw many lots of movie memorabilia sell for incredible prices – many far exceeding their low estimate price, notable sales include (sale prices inclusive of buyer’s premium):
- Screen-matched “Dr. Evil’s Private Volcano Island” Sign from AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME (1999) sold for £10,625 ($12,218) – over 10x the low estimate price of £1,000
- Musical Dancing Marionette from CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (2005) sold for £31,250 ($35,938) – over 15x the low estimate price of £2,000
- Palmer Joss’ (Matthew McConaughey) “Losing Faith” Book from CONTACT (1997) sold for £13,750 ($15,812) – over 34x the low estimate price of £400
- SS Georgie Paper Boat from IT CHAPTER TWO (2019) sold for £18,750 ($21,562) – over 23x the low estimate price of £800
- Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser) Costume from THE MUMMY (1999) AND THE MUMMY RETURNS (2001) sold for £11,250 ($12,938) – over 11x the low estimate price of £1,000
- Three “Believe” Tickets from THE POLAR EXPRESS (2004) sold for £25,000 ($28,750) – over 8x the low estimate price of £3,000
- Dutch’s (Arnold Schwarzenegger) Screen-matched Costume from PREDATOR (1987) sold for £46,875 ($53,906) – over 14x the low estimate price of £6,000
- Hell House Door Knocker from SCARY MOVIE 2 (2001) sold for £10,625 ($12,218) – over 17x the low estimate price of £600
- Lamb Chop and Friends Puppets from SHARI LEWIS sold for £37,500 ($43,125) – over 18x the low estimate price of £2,000
- Team America Hummer H2 Large-Scale Model Miniature from TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE (2004) sold for £87,500 ($100,625) – over 14x the low estimate price of £6,000
- Comic-con Prop Ted Bear from TED 2 (2015) sold for £34,375 ($39,530) – over 22x the low estimate price of £1,500
