What’s better than margaritas, Mexican food and mutts? On Saturday, Nov. 12, Chef Johnny Hernandez hosted the inaugural “Off the Leash” fundraiser for the Footbridge Foundation at his new hacienda-style cantina, Casa Hernán Cantina. Casa Hernán Cantina is located in the Lone Star district at 411 E. Cevallos St., San Antonio 78204. 

The Footbridge Foundations is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to saving thousands of dogs and cats in San Antonio and surrounding areas. The goal of “Off the Leash” is to raise funds to establish a surgery center in Spring 2023. This center will also provide vaccinations, preventative care, food and shelter for animals in need. 

Great Day SA’s Roma Villavicencio was the MC for the event. Part of the event to raise additional funds was a silent auction. Attendees could bid on a range of items from a trip to Iceland to smaller items donated by supporters of the Footbridge Foundation and local businesses. 

The event was a beautiful way to raise money for a deserving cause and showcase the much-anticipated opening of Hernandez’s newest endeavor. The venue is intimate with a warm atmosphere, that will draw in people from all over who want to experience some of what San Antonio has to offer.
