The band says, “We were watching Los Lobos videos and saw them perform this song and fell in love with it. We are Mexican but love Country, TexMex, Tejano, Americana and all the different American styles of music. This is an old song from the Chicano Movement. We want to solidify the message of brotherhood across borders. Somos todos hermanos. We are proud of our Mexican heritage but also have huge respect for the U.S. and its culture.”
Frontwoman Laura Denisse shares, “We had so much fun performing ‘Mexico Americano,’ then seeing it take off on Facebook we knew we wanted to record it. So we added it to our set list and recorded a live version!”
“Mexico Americano – Live From The Mountain City Barn,” will be sent to radio and available at DSPs on Wednesday, Aug. 30, leading up to Hispanic Heritage Month.
Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, Laura Denisse Y Los Brillantes is composed of Laura, Luis Leija (accordion), Roberto Lozoya (drums), Josué Padilla (bass), Oscar Osollo (keyboard) and Fernando Castilleja (guitar/bajo).
The group is currently touring in support of its 11-track album Fortune, which was recorded in Nashville with Mexican American producer and multi-instrumentalist Misa Arriaga (Kacey Musgraves).
