Subspecies V: Blood Rise Review

After a 20-plus year wait for the next film in the story of Radu in Subspecies V: Blood Rise—a film directed by Ted Nicolaou starring Anders Hove and Denice Duff. We follow the life and death of Radu a child stolen at birth he was born to fulfill an ancient prophecy. He was taken by the Templars for the church from his vampire father and a witch of a mother. Radu Lives his life for the church till the day he returns to face his father and is met by his mother who tells him of his true life.

He feels she has spoken no lies he finds a woman and a young boy his own half-brother. Against the church’s rule, he spares them. This will be a fatal mistake lust takes hold of Radu and finds out the truth about Helena. She takes his mortal life and gives him eternal life in the darkness.

She leaves him and he spends countless years looking for her and the Bloodstone he shared with her to keep her from fully turning. Radu finds his own disciples and teaches the secrets that his mother showed him after she found him turned. He now will find himself betrayed by them and hunt them down looking for his birthright dagger that will end his father’s life.

Hundreds of years pass and he finds them but the years have taken a toll on his body. They lead him to their new master only to find out it is Helena. Things will not end well for Radu as he is confronted with his past and will suffer a new loss in Ariel.

Overall a great film in the series and for fans like myself way overdue. The story was done very well for the series in my book. I give this one an 8 out of 10 fans of the series this one is a must-see for new fans also. One can jump into this without watching the others but will make you seek them out.
