Released via Dedstrange (founded by Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers / Death By Audio and home to Jealous, Data Animal, The Pleasure Majenta, GIFT and more), on their new single ‘Cloaking Love’ Berlin anti-punk art-heroes Plattenbau crack out over a frenzied power pop romp hotter than a warped Joy Division cassette baking on the dashboard of a ’92 Chevy Beretta. Anxious bass and drum action melts into a post-punk dream state stalked by Lewis Lloyd’s (vocals/synth) grim cinematic vision. Plattenbau plays witness to the death of ideology— death by audio.
Plattenbau highlights: supported A Place To Bury Strangers at sold-out SO36 Berlin concert Feb. 2023 ; previously supported bands such as IDLES, Preoccupations, The Garden, La Luz, Flasher ; will play at SXSW & New Colossus 2023 ; previously appeared as cover artist on Spotify AlternaRock DE playlist ; Oliver Ackermann picked Plattenbau’s last album Shape / Shifting as one of his Top 10 LPs of 2022 for Brooklyn Vegan and it was also named #9 best album of 2022 by Destroy // Exist.
