Monster Review

Monster is a film by director Kore-eda Hirokazu starring Sakura Ando and Eita Nagayama. A film about a young boy who starts to act out and gets into trouble.  He is dealing with the loss of his father and growing up. His mother tries to understand why her child acts like he is. She goes to his school looking for answers and who is bullying her son. When she gets wind a teacher is behind it and is told her son is the bully.

We find out his friend is also having issues. A film that will show us each of their view of what is going on and find out who the monster is. It is a unique way of telling the story from each character’s eyes. We see how each event unfolds from their viewpoint and why each one reacts the way they do. Making for a story you must pay close attention to.

Overall a very masterful film in the way the story is told and shown. We see each one’s view and we must find who is the real monster of the film. The way it is shown and then we see the other side of it makes it a real wild ride of a film. I give this one a 6 out of 10 a great way of storytelling and filmmaking. Just it may overwhelm some viewers I feel but don’t let that stop you. You will be in for an amazing film and story check it out now.
