Today, we at down with A Brave Face to talk about their inspiration to write music, heroes, and much more!

Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

-We draw inspiration from our personal lives to write our songs. With this band we wanted to dive into things that everyone deals with, growing up, having kids, dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, whether it be in our own lives Iives or from watching our friends and family deal with these issues.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

-Growing up we listened to a wide variety of music, everything from rock to rap. We found and gravitated towards metal in all its forms during our teens, but have always had a wide swath of musical tastes.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

-we look up to alot of musicians for there playing, we wouldn’t call any of them our personal heros. There just people with amazing talent, that being said we love the classic rockers Led Zeppelin, Metallica, anything 80s cock rock. We also love the classic pop stars Micheal Jackson, Phil Collins, Genesis, The Beatles, Madonna, Cindy Lauper. Really anything with a good beat and melody.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

-We have many artistic outlets other than music, we paint, do grapic design and photography. So if we had to give up music we would just re-focus on one of those avenues. We also still have day jobs that we have to hold down, the struggle is real.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

– Write music you love playing and have fun with it, otherwise whats the point. Your music should be your therapy, your outlet, your passion. If your not hitting those notes when you’re playing, then you’re doing it wrong.
