Her Leather Jacket, known for its high-octane performances, delivers an anthemic masterpiece that transcends the boundaries of conventional rock. The group blends the sounds of their rock and pop-punk influences to create a storyline filled with confusion and adoration for their partners’ love for them. “‘Cloud 9’ is a rock love anthem,” the band explains. “It’s all about having a partner in your life that can look past your vices and downfalls and see the person you are at your core.” The song’s relentless, gritty vocals soar over a wall of distortion, creating an immersive experience that transports listeners into their sonic landscape. “Cloud 9” explores the unconditional love provided by a devoted partner through its rebellious melody and angst-ridden lyrics like “I mess around, and you just wait up for me” and “You’re just so good, and I’m a fucked up story.” This track was written, produced, and recorded by Aaron Gillespie (of Underoath and The Almost), co-written by Ned Houston and Dan Swank (All Time Low, Pale Waves), mixed by Matt Huber (Smallpools, Boys Like Girls), and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer, Adam Grover (Green Day, Zach Bryan). “Cloud 9” is the follow-up single to the March release of “Ever Been” (feat. Based in East Nashville, Her Leather Jacket is rapidly gaining recognition as the duo blends the sounds of their pop-punk and alternative rock influences. Having previously found success in country music, lead singer Manny Blu was inspired to create a band with the music he envisioned since his move to Nashville in 2018. Blu found the perfect match in drummer Wes Snyder. Influenced by bands like Blink-182, The All-American Rejects, and All Time Low, the duo’s debut self-titled EP, released in Fall 2023, embraced the pop-punk sound.
