Los Angeles, CA – Global-sensation and quirky pop culture wunderkind Sofie Dossi has expanded her ever-growing cultural reach into music, releasing her debut single, “Bunny,” which is available to download and stream on digital platforms worldwide. The single is being released alongside a girl-scorned revenge thriller-themed music video, which premiered yesterday on YouTube. In support of the release of “Bunny,” YouTube has launched several billboards – one in Times Square in New York and two in Los Angeles – which will be active from today until August 26th.
A colorful and cinematic reimagining of her first breakup, unfolding through imaginative and metaphorical storytelling, “Bunny” is a white-knuckle thrill ride without seat belts or breaks through the darkest corners and pockets of Dossi’s creative mind. Told from the perspective of an unbroken girl, climbing from the wreckage of and looking to avenge the loss of her first love, the single is deceptively brisk and upbeat, smudging the lines of genre, creating an atmosphere that is both shimmering and menacing, sometimes simultaneously. “The song is inspired by the emotional outbreak I felt after my first big heartbreak,” Dossi says. “It tells a story of wanting to get revenge, getting back at the person that hurt me, but ultimately being able to do nothing but sulk in my anger.”
The debut single, which was co-written and produced by her brother and longtime collaborator Zak Dossi, who also directed the music video, follows the blueprint that propelled Dossi into a celebrity – versatility, adaptability, and flexibility (quite literally) – and highlights the creative chemistry shared by the sibling duo. Sofie credits Zak with her passion for music. One of her most cherished memories recalls the young pair, who had just started music lessons, regularly meeting at the piano and competing in duets. Zak, the older of the two, was always naturally gifted at music and would go on to study music and production in college. As a result, Sofie found herself working harder than she otherwise might have, striving to be great enough to play alongside him. Now, years later, she’s thankful to be playing with him.
Sofie Dossi is no stranger to success. From the age of 12, when she discovered her talent as a contortionist, Dossi has worked continuously to pursue her passion for artistry. She first got her start on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent – a show she never planned to audition for – becoming both a finalist and Golden Buzzer recipient.
