CROM HAS HEARD YOU! The Cimmerian returns this April with “Iron Shadows in the Moon”

ABLAZE also announces The Cimmerian Vol 2 HC collection coming June 2021

JANUARY 21, PORTLAND, OR –ABLAZE announced today the latest entry in their popular The Cimmerian library of uncensored Robert E. Howard adaptations with the upcoming release of writer/artist Virginie Augustin’s THE CIMMERIAN: IRON SHADOWS IN THE MOON, launching this April. Robert E. Howard’s Conan is back and uncensored!

A young woman in danger is pursued by her vile master. Conan, whose family has just been wiped out by this same master, puts an end to the beauty’s pursuer, and saves her with a blow of his sword. Bound by fate, the couple decide to hit the road together. Their journey takes them to an island where they discover strange ruins inhabited by dark magic. Their paradise-like refuge soon turns into a suffocating nightmare where shadows lurk. Who knows the extent of the dangers that lie there?   They will quickly learn that on an island, the biggest threat does not always come from the outside…

Iron Shadows in the Moon reveals the genius of its author in describing universes as singular as they are mysterious. With her line, both delicate and powerful, Virginie Augustin illustrates this oppressive and mystical atmosphere, and gives the story a new graphic breath.

ABLAZE also announced that The Cimmerian Vol 2 HC will be available this June, which collects two more complete stories, The People of The Black Circle, and The Frost- Giant’s Daughter, plus bonus material, including the original Robert E Howard prose stories.  The $24.99 168-pg hardcover collection will be on sale June 3, 2021. (ISBN: 1-950912-34-5)

Robert Ervin Howard was born January 22, 1906 in Peaster, Texas.  He began his career as a writer for Weird Tales magazine, a fantasy and horror magazine.  His most iconic characters were first featured in its pages: Kull, Conan, Solomon Kane, and others.  He died on June 11, 1936 at the age of thirty from a self-inflicted gunshot in Cross Plains, Texas.

Born in Chatou in 1973, Virginie Augustin studied art and animation at the École des Gobelins in Paris for three years. She worked for the Walt Disney Studios on films like ‘Tarzan’ and ‘Hercules’, and on the France 3 serials ‘Witch’ and ‘Chasseurs de Dragons’. After working on a feature film based on Hugo Pratt’s ‘Corto Maltese’, she teamed up with writer Wilfrid Lupano for her first comics project. This was the fantasy series ‘Alim le Tanneur’, that was published by Delcourt in four books between 2004 and 2009.

She participated in collective projects with adaptations of songs by Francis Cabrel (Delcourt, 2005) and Michel Polnareff (Soleil, 2007), as well as the erotic anthology ‘Premières fois’ (Delcourt, 2008), the art/illustration book ‘Souvenirs de films’ (Lombard, 2009) and the advertising comic ‘Une McStory française’ for McDonald’s (Cliomédia, 2009). She drew the book ‘Voyage aux Ombres’ from a script by Audrey Alwett and Scotch Arleston in the Soleil collection Légendes de Troy in 2011, before starting the erotic mystery series ‘Whaligoë’ with Yann for Casterman in 2012.
