88RISING SET TO RETURN TO COACHELLA WITH ALL-STAR ALL-ASIAN LINEUP

Los Angeles, CA (April 8, 2024): Today, 88rising – the pioneering and internationally-renowned music and media company amplifying Asian talent and culture – has announced their return to the storied Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2024 with “88rising Futures.” The ensemble performance will present a new crop of electrifying Asian artists, foster unexpected collaborations, and premiere new music on-stage from the likes of genre-defying quartet ATARASHII GAKKO!, male supergroup Number_i, queen of Japanese hip-hop Awich, and pop sensation YOASOBI. The distinctly curated lineup is 88rising’s latest effort at globalizing Asian talent by exporting artists from their home countries onto US and other international stages.

“88rising Futures” follows 88rising’s legendary Head in the Clouds Forever takeover of the 2022 Coachella Main Stage, which made history as the first time that a record label was given an official performance slot to showcase artists, trended #1 worldwide and across the United States, and ultimately “proved to be Weekend One’s biggest surprise hit” (Billboard). “Head In The Clouds Forever” also brought together legendary artists across Asia including Jackson Wang, CL, Hikaru Utada, NIKI, Rich Brian, and reunited K-Pop pioneers 2NE1 for one of the festival’s most-talked about moments.

This year, “88rising Futures” will spotlight the incredible artistry emerging from Japan as well as other marquee 88rising talent. ATARASHII GAKKO! and YOASOBI are also set to perform at Coachella with their own individual sets. Festival goers can also expect exciting surprise guests to appear on the main stage during “88rising Futures.”

ATARASHII GAKKO!: “We are so proud to be able to represent Japanese culture at the most prestigious festival in the U.S. We have prepared a special performance that transcends language barriers and is exclusive to Coachella. We will make sure to have the most fun as a representative of Japan’s youth scene!”

Awich: “My heart is full of excitement and a sense of gratitude to be able to perform at 88RISING FUTURES stage at Coachella. It’s a landmark moment for me to share my journey with everyone. And also very excited to be part of the vibrant tapestry of sounds that Asia has to offer to the world today. You can expect to see what’s really going on in the Japanese rap scene now. I’m bringing surprises so please be looking forward to it!”

Number_i: “Performing at Coachella, the worldʼs most prestigious event, is one of Number_iʼs dreams. This time we will be participating in 88rising Futures. Thank you very much for giving us a wonderful opportunity! We will give it our Best!”

XIN LIU: “I am thrilled to be part of this big journey standing as an artist from China to perform at Coachella as my first international stage performance. Can’t wait to share my music and passion on the world stage.”

YOASOBI: “Since it’s our first live performance in America in about a year, we’ve been seeing incredible feedback across social media from people who have been waiting. We’re really looking forward to the excitement we’ll be able to create for everyone at the festival.”
