Today, Offworld Industries, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, have announced the first of several planned updates to the Early Access release of Starship Troopers: Extermination, adding new features and enhancements to the core gameplay experience. The Mutated Sands: 0.3.0 Update adds a new region of Valaka—the Fuel Depot—for the Deep Space Vanguard to reclaim from the enemy, replete with factories that provide multi-level environments to combat the Bugs. Additionally, the Offworld Industries team has introduced a new weapon structure to base-building: the Machine Gun Emplacement, inspired in design by the iconic weaponry used in the Starship Troopers film and capable of decimating the waves of Arachnids seeking to conquer your base!
In addition to the new location and supplementary emplacement, the Mutated Sands: 0.3.0 Update introduces Mutators, brand-new game variants that can adjust the parameters of every match—such as increasing Bug Health—to add variety and augment difficulty for more dynamic combat. Accompanied by balance adjustments for all weapons and various quality-of-life improvements, the Mutated Sands: 0.3.0 Update is the first step in bringing ST:E to its fully-realized 1.0 edition.
By collaborating with players through the beginning stages of Early Access, the Offworld Industries team has enlisted the ST:E community to help determine what features and mechanics to build upon and evolve before the game’s eventual transition into 1.0. Player feedback continues to be integral to the ongoing creative process, as Offworld Industries works to iterate upon prevalent requests and continues adding more and more content in the weeks and months ahead.
The Early Access edition of Starship Troopers: Extinction is currently available for $24.99 USD— a special initial price that will increase as more content is introduced ahead of the 1.0 launch —and puts players on the far-off front lines in an all-out war with the Arachnid menace. Squad up as a Trooper in the Deep Space Vanguard, an elite Special Forces group within the Mobile Infantry, and get ready to stomp some Bug! No Trooper will ever stand alone as they line up shoulder-to-shoulder with their fellow Vanguards—trusty Morita Assault Rifles in hand—to battle against hordes of bloodthirsty insectoid aliens on the hostile surface of the planet Valaka.
Work together to complete objectives, acquire resources, build and defend your base of operations, and then escape to the extraction point together. The battle will be intense but, as hardened warriors standing for all of humanity and the United Citizen Federation, leave no inch of ground safe for the Arachnids!
