UK based punk rock band The Young Hearts released their debut album ‘The Modern State’ 29th January 2021 and then almost immediately went on a 12 month hiatus. Over the campaign the band landed coverage with the likes of Alt Press, Triple J, BBC, Idobi Radio, 89FM, Kerrang, Rock Sound, BBC, BT TV and many other respected publications. The album also achieved official playlisting with Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Amazon Music, Pandora, Tidal, Youtube Music and more. The Young Hearts have previously toured and shared stages with the likes of Can’t Swim, Junior, Mallory Knox and more. The band will now release their new single ‘A Charmed Society’ on June 16th 2023.
Speaking about ‘The Way Back’, singer Craig Lawrence says – “The pandemic hugely impacted everyone’s lives in many different ways. For me personally, I was still able to work, and with everything else so restricted, I took the opportunity to earn a bit extra, for whatever the future held at this point. From that moment, I slipped into a habit of working 60-70 hours, six days a week, for the next two years. It left me with no time or energy for a life outside of my job, I wasn’t playing music anymore or doing anything I enjoyed, basically burning myself out for money. During this time, someone I worked with, a similar age to myself, tragically passed away, completely out of the blue, with a young family at home. There were no warning signs, one day he was at work, the next he wasn’t, and it knocked me for six. It was a huge wake up call that made me realise I couldn’t carry on living my life that way, and completely missing out on the things I really cared about. ‘A Charmed Society’ is an anthem for everyone who struggles with that balance between making a living and living life. However old you are, it is never too late to pursue the things you’re passionate about, and that make you happy. At some point, we’re not gonna be around anymore, so why wait to make the most of all the things that make life worth living.”
