December 13, 2022 (New York, NY): Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking can today announce that Antonio Romero Monteiro, from Richmond, Texas, USA, has added four new record titles to his existing record for the largest collection of videogames (24,268).

The 45-year-old videogame enthusiast’s impressive list of achievements now includes: the largest collection of Xbox items (3,241), the largest collection of Sega items (2,133), the largest collection of Nintendo items (11,084), the largest collection of PlayStation items (7,633).

His record- breaking adventure began in 2019 when he was first certified by Guinness World Records for his videogame collection. Since that moment, he has been breaking his own record and gradually transitioned into collecting games and accessories for a variety of other consoles.

Antonio first began building his monumental collection in the year 1987 at the age of 10, starting off with games from his own personal collection. Overall, it has taken him over 25 years to build it!

“Originally my collection focused on purchasing and repurchasing some of the games I played in my youth. Slowly it expanded to include games I always wanted to play, but hadn’t had the opportunity to, and eventually expanded to completing collections for individual systems,” said Antonio.

The Texas record holder see the video games as a form of art, where creativity and storytelling transcend to limitless possibilities. Each generation of video games systems gives further potential to develop imagination and share boundless stories, challenges, and experiences. Some of his most precious memories include video games and their experiences with family and friends, he expressed.

Upon achieving these GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles and securing a spot in the new Guinness World Records 2023 edition, he commented: “I was in the middle of a work meeting and started jumping up with excitement and content when I received the notification of the new world record! I remember as a child, the Guinness World Records book was one of the most popular books in the school library, and it was considered a victory if you were able to check it out. Being featured on this book is just a dream come true.”

The new Guinness World Records 2023 edition reveals the latest and greatest Guinness World Records achievements on Earth and in Space, with brand new photography and graphics, plus special features to bring this year’s astonishing records to life.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS 2023 is now available for purchase in stores and online.
