The Prototypes return with anthemic, weekend-ready energizer ‘Alive’ – a collaboration with genre-merging indie/dance trio NOISY. Listen to ‘Alive’ here
‘Alive’ is a call-to-action to an entire culture that’s been starved of its livelihood over the past 18 months. The duo bring their signature DnB energy up alongside the freneticism of good-time, rave-culture proponents NOISY.
Speaking on the track, The Prototypes say: “working with NOISY to make ‘Alive’ was complete chemistry from start to finish. We had been listening to them for a while and loved their raw style and influences of rave culture from past and future in the music. Creating ‘Alive’ with them was a pleasure as it all happened so naturally for all of us.”
Signed to Island Records, NOISY makes music with no boundaries, a hybrid of hooks, beats and escapism that was formed on the south coast of England in Worthing, just down the road from their collaborators:
“The Prototypes have always been on our list of people to work with. As soon as we got into a room with them we knew we were going to create something special. We love how ‘UK’ this song sounds and have had it on repeat since finishing it. Can’t wait to hear this in clubs, on the radio and spin it in our DJ sets,” says Cody from the band.
‘Alive’ follows The Prototypes BBC Radio 1 A-list ‘Reason’, a collaboration with dance-feature hot-property LOWES, taken from their anthemic DnB crossover album ‘Ten Thousand Feet & Rising’ – Stream ‘Ten Thousand Feet & Rising’ here. The track has amassed over 200+ BBC Radio 1 plays and continues to build now months after it’s release.
Normally found tearing up festivals and venues across the world, while clubs have been closed, over the past year The Prototypes have kept busy with a series of special livestream broadcasts. Recorded live from the British Airways i360 tower in their hometown of Brighton, ‘Legacy’ – A 90-minute livestreamed DJ set in aid of MIND – saw the drum & bass duo stream a 90 minute live DJ set via their Facebook page. In April 2020, The Prototypes performed a 24 hour Drum & Bass & Jungle DJ set in partnership with D&BTV and raised over £14K for the NHS through NHS Charities Together .
Their latest charity campaign started after Greg James named ‘Reason’ his Tune Of The Week and ‘Official Running Number 1’ on his show – the band launched #ReasonToRun on TikTok and Instagram in line with Mental Health Awareness Week. The campaign drew submissions from all over the globe detailing the positive impact running has on their mental wellbeing.
The Prototypes have been back behind the decks this summer selling out their Get Hype Records: Summer Boat Party 2021 in London, touring NZ with Pendulum and will  keep festival goers partying until the early hours when they will play Leeds Festival’s Late Night party on Saturday 28 August. With NOISY bringing their energetic live show to the BBC Radio 1 Dance stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals, festival goers will be able to watch the two groups perform their collaborative single ‘Alive’.
