Nashville, TN – October 13, 2023 – Off the heels of his powerful single release, Texas Male Vocalist of the Year Wade Bowen is back with another poignantly crafted track with “Cowboy Kid.” The singer-songwriter pulled from his childhood memories and core values that were instilled in him to create the fun, up-tempo, sentimental song and accompanying official video. Stream/download the track HERE and watch the official video HERE.

Produced by Wade and co-written alongside GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter Casey Beathard (Eric Church, Kenny Chesney), “Cowboy Kid” was inspired by Wade’s childhood growing up in Texas and being encouraged to chase his larger-than-life dreams, such as being a cap gun cowboy or following in the footsteps of the Jesse James and John Waynes. The chorus sings, “It’s finally all adding up, Oh I am who I am because of that cap gun cowboy kid I was,” highlighting how running free and being a dreamer helped shape who he is today as a father, husband, musician, and beyond.

“As a kid I was a big dreamer and this song is about carrying those dreams into adulthood,” Bowen said. “I feel like most people start to lose sight or give up on them as they get older. I see the same thing happening in my own kids now as they get ready to move into adulthood, and I want them to know it’s ok to have crazy dreams… and I want them to have courage to chase them. They just might come true.”

The nostalgic official video brings the song’s sentiment and depth to life through snapshots of Wade as a child riding horses and playing the guitar to then showing recent performance footage of Wade as he lives out his childhood dream. Alongside these snippets of Wade, the video also features photos of his own children throughout their younger years, bringing it all full circle.

In addition to music, Wade is also passionate about giving back to the community through his Bowen Family Foundation, which has raised more than $6M to-date. At the end of August, the singer-songwriter hosted his annual invite-only Bowen Invitational golf tournament, which raised nearly $1M for the Bowen Family Foundation. The tournament was a lot of golf, with a little bit of music too, featuring performances by Robert Earl Keen, among others.

About Wade Bowen: Twenty years and more than 4,000 shows into his career, Wade Bowen has become synonymous with country music, songwriting, and captivating live performances, and for good reason. An artistic descendant of American icons like Guy Clark, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen and more, Bowen is an important voice in a legacy of Texas troubadours stretching back more than 50 years. Texas Radio agrees, as he scored Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year at this year’s T3R Awards, along with a #1 hit for his foot-stomping, signature country-rock single “Honky Tonk Roll.”

Revered as one of the genre’s finest and most authentic modern voices, Bowen’s approach is rooted in tradition, but also stands on the creative cutting edge. His focus remains on writing unique songs with a literary quality, and shifting his sonic territory to match his life. A dozen albums have shown his musical diversity – including six studio sets, two live collections, a gospel album and an ongoing series of buddy-country hits with fellow Texan, Randy Rogers.

A road warrior, Bowen continues to perform more than 200 dates a year across the U.S., with a slew of sold-out shows already under his belt for 2023, further solidifying his dedicated fanbase.

A philanthropist at heart, Bowen founded the Bowen Family Foundation, which has helped children and families in and around central Texas by raising more than $6 million for beneficiaries including March of Dimes Waco, CASA of McLennan and Hill Counties, City of West Disaster Relief, Boys & Girls Clubs of Waco, Inspiración, The Mentoring Alliance, and more.
