NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Breakout, indie pop recording artist Graciela (Gr8 Entertainment) will release her sixth studio recording, an original titled “Just Friends.“* Written by Graciela (alongside Sean P. Jones and Aaron Kellim) and co-produced by six-time Grammy winner Jimmy Hoyson (Michael Jackson/ B.B. King/Red Hot Chili Peppers/The Goo Goo Dolls/Iggy Pop/Green Day) and award-winning composer Rob Deaner (v6 Music + Post) at The Vault Recording Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the track will be available via all digital retail outlets and streaming platforms on Friday, July 20, 2022. (Pre-sale/Pre-save event begins Friday, July 15, 2022; distribution by Ed Gertler/ Digital Retail Services). The personal and honest musical introspective signifies the 14-year-old songwriter’s trademark to pen realistic and mature storylines that address difficult life experiences.
The piano opener (performed by Graciela) lends a soft and poignant introduction to a tale of love and friendship lost– casual conversations that lead to handholding and unreciprocated budding affections detoured to the friend zone. Graciela’s tender vocal performance defines the difficult decision and emotional transition to remap the relationship.
“This song is about the comfort level and trust established in a friendship,” Graciela introduced. “…A comfort level that is threatened when feelings and intentions are misunderstood or grow far beyond the place you intended, and wishing you could just go back to the place where the relationship began—as ‘Just Friends’.”
The tune showcases the young performer’s musical talents, as an accomplished vocalist and pianist, complemented by her ability and open-heartedness to connect with her audience with expressive truthful lyrics that breathe life into the song.
WE WERE JUST FRIENDS
HAVING NORMAL CONVERSATIONS
THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED, I’M FEELING SO STRANGE
I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN
TRIED TO HOLD MY HAND, BUT I DON’T WANT TO
THOUGHT I MADE IT CLEAR THAT I DON’T WANT YOU
WISH WE COULD TURN BACK TIME
The corresponding “Just Friends” music video was shot at The Vault in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (produced by AJ Fresh/Fresh Media Group) and is positioned for a world premiere.
Graciela is writing and recording in preparation to release her sophomore EP; the new single (“Just Friends”) arrives as an early introduction to the project scheduled for a September 2022 drop date. Launching her recording career as official in 2021, Gracie has captivated audiences at various performances across the country (including the Pony League World Series – Washington, PA • Stage AE – Pittsburgh, PA • Hard Rock Cafe – Pittsburgh, PA • Southpointe Town Center – Canonsburg, PA • Tootsies – Nashville).
