UK supergroup and World Beatbox Champions ‘The Beatbox Collective’ have been invited to represent the UK at SXSW 2024 USA.

Formed of Ball-Zee, Bass6, Hobbit and MC Zani, they create a wall of sound that needs to be seen to be believed with their range of performances and productions over 10 years. From filling festival dancefloors, creating 5* theatre shows, soundtracking and featuring on adverts, multiple TV and Radio appearances, corporate team building, collaborations, musical therapy and recovery work with the NHS, and have now taught over 1 million young people how to beatbox through live UK arena tours with Young Voices and their work in education with their schools workshops. Setting the foundations for the future and leaving a legacy wherever they go.

The elite all vocal ensemble will embark on SXSW 2024 in Austin, Texas USA for the full festival fun, to demonstrate the range of soundscapes and sound design you can achieve with a dynamic and adaptable group of vocalists, simply with just the human anatomy and no FX.

The Beatbox Collective will also collaborate with top musicians attending SXSW and demonstrate the unexpected fusing together, of very different musical genres, instruments and styles. With these collaborations they are setting out to show how possible it is to synergise the beatbox element with other instruments, providing unique examples with the voice, imagination and microphones, a battle AI cannot win! (Further press releases with videos of these compilations to follow)

Rupert Oldridge (BASS6) of The Beatbox Collective comments “We’re ecstatic to be invited to SXSW so we can showcase our different sound vocabulary as pioneers for the beatbox world. We’ll be demonstrating our dynamic audio range and different styles of music and shows.

We’re also going be performing two unique collaborations curated especially for SXSW 2024 with Strings Quartet Vulva Voce and Strings duo The Ayoub Sisters which is an amazing chance to demonstrate how beatboxing and instruments can work seamlessly together, even across different musical genres. .

We’ll be showcasing a new approach to live performance and filling dance floors as an only vocal group, and proving the possibilities of using just the voice and imagination.”
