San Japan celebrated their 13th year by bringing the best of Anime and Manga to the forefront in San Antonio! This year, the event is in its traditional home of Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center Downtown San Antonio! We saw amazing vendors, artists, musicians, cosplayers and more at the event this year! The line to get tickets went fast but was really long through out each day as more and more people kept coming to Henry B to get into San Japan.  We were media for the event this weekend and here are our thoughts below of the event!

Here is a bit of what we saw:

Music

Bitforce brought the jams and the jamspace with them as they showcased the best of musical talent from around the country during Bitforce Jamspace! We heard the music from J Pop cover artist Bex, Shubzilla X Bill Beats, Gross Angel, DJ R.O.C.K.M.A.N., Gross Angel, and many more! The music gave the people visiting San Japan a way enjoy themselves in a away that music can only do for a person. The musicians gave their all in their performances as the vibe in the area was astounding!

Cosplay

Cosplayers this weekend went above and beyond with the creativity of their cosplays! We sat down and talked to a few cosplayers and they let us know they are creating their own cosplays more nowadays to mimic the vision they imagine in the characters they want to portray. Cosplayers we also talked to let us know they enjoyed meeting so many people and taking pictures with thousands of excited people visiting San Japan.

Artist Alley

The artist alley was a HUGE hit with nearly everyone attending the event! It was jam packed with some many creative artists showcasing their crafts such as stickers, pictures, keychains, and much more! On the last day, I was astonished at how many artists were having sold out stickers on various products they were showcasing. I am very glad these artists were able to give fans a glimpse of their creativity and ability to own them as well!

Vendors

While going through the vendor room, we saw some pretty cool things that you wanted to buy and take home. There were so many plushies in attendance that made one of our team members squeal with joy! I was able to see some cool masks and backpacks that lit up with images of classic 8 bit fun at one of the tables there as well. I was really fond of one of the companies there named Toynk Toys! They had a ton mystery boxes from Harry Potter to Call of Duty! They had various sort of items in each box that range from coffee cups, collectibles, pins and more. We were able to sit down with one of their workers and talk a bit about their company as well as a do an unboxing!

Final Thoughts

We had a ton of fun during San Japan weekend! We talked to so many people who felt the same as we did during the event. We were excited with the variety of things at San Japan such as music, crafts room, and much more! We are glad and proud to attend San Japan 13 and can’t wait for next year!
