[ May 18, 2023 – CHICAGO, IL ] Yesterday, recording artist and philanthropist G Herbo announced that Swervin’ Through Stress, his philanthropic initiative, is now an official 501c3 nonprofit organization via Billboard.com.

G Herbo’s Swervin’ Through Stress aims to destigmatize conversations around mental wellness among the BIPOC community by introducing and education at an early age, as well as providing access to resources, tools, and coping mechanisms to combat the long-term effects of undiagnosed mental illness both at the personal and community level.

“Our community doesn’t talk about mental health enough,” Herbo tells Billboard. “With Swervin’ Through Stress, I really wanted to create a space where it’s OK for us to talk about what we’re going through. A lot of us can relate to each other’s struggles.”

This weekend, Swervin’ Through Stress is partnering with Chance The Rapper’s Social Works and Black Joy Ride, for the My State Of Mind Community Bike Ride and Wellness Block Party on Saturday, May 20th at 12P, beginning and ending at the Harold Washington Cultural Center on Chicago’s southside; as well as, a private pampering event on Sunday with Free Root Operation, a Chicago-based organization focused on supporting women affected by gun violence.

The announcement of Swervin’ Through Stress’ 501c3 standing comes behind the release of G Herbo’s Strictly 4 My Fans 2 mixtape, featuring guest assists from GloRilla, as well as Chicago newcomers Mello Buckzz and Drench. With production from longtime collaborators Southside, DJ Victoriouz, Oz On The Track, Luca Vialli, and more, Strictly 4 My Fans 2’s soundscape is reminiscent of the gritty, skittering drill beats rapped on by Lil Herb. The original mixtape, Strictly 4 My Fans, released in November of 2016 when G Herbo was just 21 years old, marked a pivotal moment in the career of Lil Herb. At the time, with the release of Strictly 4 My Fans on all platforms, Herb began his transition from local block celebrity to global recording artist.
