Global pop superstar and multi-hyphenated artist, Amber Liu, released a new music video for her latest single “neon” today on all digital streaming platforms via EMPIRE. “neon” is released in both English and Mandarin languages simultaneously today. Joining Amber Liu in the English-language version is popular Korean-American rapper Peniel of k-pop boy group BtoB, while the Mandarin-language version features Chinese-born rapper Blow Fever. The fresh track is the first of new original music released by Liu in a year and is just a taste of what is to come from the pop star in the following months. The Chinese-American artist is filming the fourth season of the national hit TV boy group survival reality series, “CHUANG 2021” in China as a music mentor.

Liu showcases her vocal and dance abilities throughout “neon” in the music videos, which starts with a comedy stand up which sets the stage for the rest of this fun video. Liu and her backup dancers playfully fight, dance, and sing their way through the music video as the scenes shift. Midway, Liu is joined by Peniel of BtoB in the English version and Blow Fever in the Mandarin version who deliver their stand out verses. Listeners and viewers won’t be able to stop themselves from dancing along to the lively melody, cheerful drum beat and the catchy tune of Liu’s vocals.

Peniel is a Korean-American rapper who rose to fame in 2012 with his debut as a member of K-Pop boy group BtoB under CUBE Entertainment. In 2017, Peniel debuted as a solo act with his digital single “THAT GIRL”. In October of last year, Peniel joined the new unit, BtoB 4U, which is currently releasing new music. Blow Fever is a Chinese-born rapper, who rose to fame after his appearance on the second season of the national famous TV series “The Rap of China” in 2018. As a participant on the show, Blow Fever was a member of a group mentored by global hip-hop sensation Kris Wu. He will be releasing his album “MadeLuv” later this year.

Liu said, “This song in particular along with my upcoming album, were written in a time span of around a year. During this last year, I just “kept writing”. I was actually really down when I wrote neon, but I wanted to write something that made me feel good but at the same time let me accept reality. It’s like happy-sad music! haha.”

After cementing her star power in South Korea as a member of the record-breaking electro- pop-based K-pop girl group f(x), Amber returned to her native California for much of 2018. The move signaled a crossover into new audiences and solo success with fans and critics alike raving about her solo body of work. She soon signed with US management company Steel Wool Entertainment and United Talent Agency for US booking before leaving Korea-based SM Entertainment. Just last year, her EP “X” was released and she went on to perform on two back-to-back North American national tours; with the most recent being a 24-city tour in early 2020 with rising artists Justin Park, Meg & Dia and Justice Carradine. The megastar kept busy last year outside of music with visual language learning app, Drops, tapping her to teach Korean to K-pop fans and hosted her own show, “I’ll Ask The Stupid Questions” as an original program with international mobile streaming service, Ficto. Earlier this year, Liu was not slowing down with her international projects when she joined the fourth season of popular national Chinese TV survival reality series, “CHUANG 2021.”As a mentor, she offers her knowledge of what it takes to be an internationally-acclaimed pop idol as the show forms their new Chinese 11-member boy group from 90 contestants who compete to debut into the global market. As a singer-songwriter, she has multiple credits on f(x) hits such as “Goodbye Summer” and her own solo hit “Shake That Brass,” which she performed on the “CHUANG 2021” most recently to rave reviews.
