Hit mobile game to receive historically-accurate content in partnership with Europe’s largest medieval festival

PARIS, FRANCE – August 3, 2023 – Gameloft, a leader in the creation and publishing of games, today announced that their hit strategy RPG March of Empires will receive a special content update in celebration of Viagem Medieval, Europe’s largest medieval festival that takes place each year in the historically important city of Santa Maria de Feira in Portugal.

With over 700,000 visitors from August 2 to August 13, Santa Maria de Feira transforms itself into a vision of itself from the past in celebration of the legacy of King Joao I, complete with era-appropriate activities and attractions including merchants, artisans, bakers, blacksmiths, knights on horseback, jousting tournaments, and more. To celebrate this once-a-year festival, March of Empires will receive in-game content that brings these festivities to players in attendance and around the world including:

• King Joao I of Portugal and his General Nuno Alvares Pereira as in-game characters

• A new historical narrative featuring the battle of Aljubarrota, allowing players to both explore and learn more about this historic battle between Portugal and the Crown of Castile

• An in-game recreation of Viagem Castle players can explore, giving them a historically accurate representation of the grounds where King Joao I ruled
