Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your

surroundings?

Inspiration comes in many ways. At any time. Whether it be inspired from a piece of art ive seen or a tune that ive hummed to myself and then recorded into my phone…..the songs usually then start being composed in my home studio by just nodding guitar licks and melodies together. The handing thing about having a DAW is that it doesn’t take much time and effort to get something going…..sometimes I have to go away and leave an idea for a few days because I get stuck…other times I can have a riff and literally 2 hours later a full song demo is done.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

My brother  is 12 years older than me so I had quite the impressionable young mind growing up with Frank Zappa, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Rainbow and that pretty much stuck me down the rock road until I ping ponged from that to metal then punk and that’s where I’ve pretty much stayed. To be fair the older i’ve got the noisier the music I listen to which is obviously the opposite of what people are supposed to listen to at my age! Ha.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

My entire life ethos is built around famous American comedian Bill Hicks…..a lot of stuff in his stand up formed how I approach things. If I have a ‘hero’ so to speak then its him. The world was genuinely a much worse place the day after he passed away.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Well music doesn’t pay the bills. Im a TV news cameraman and have been for a long time…..music is purely a conduit that helps with forgetting about some of the grim stuff I encounter at work. News is always pretty much bad most of the time.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create

music?

Just do it. It can be so fulfilling. Its tricky learning recording programs but there’s so many vids on you tube with tips and it opens a wide world of opportunities to fulfil that creative itch, There’s so many resources on reddit forums too. Someone somewhere has usually made mistakes that you are making and when ive reached out people are always helpful. And if you don’t try then you’ll never know….think of the joy you can get from creating art no matter in what format.
