Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music?

Marcus – I get inspiration from almost anything. If I am listening to music, or a mood or feeling, that drives the riffs that I create. Is it your surroundings?

Stefanie – I find inspiration difficult to come by, personally! Usually I will sit at the piano and try to improvise things until something sticks. I’m similar with lyrical melodies – I will hum along to a song until I find what works for me. Then, I write around that.

Justin- My inspiration to write our music comes from just playing around with riffs and yes I would say it comes from the surroundings.

Marcus- Moncton is not a very exciting city 😅. But lyrically, I get inspiration from everyday life.

Stefanie – Surroundings do help, in a way. I find that being in the city helps encourage me to be more productive with songwriting since there are places to play and other groups around us.

Allon-life is my inspiration- which sounds lame lol but it’s true. I write about my emotional responses to events in my life.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

Justin- I’ve always listened to heavy metal like Slipknot,Pantera,Mudvayne,Lamb of God

Marcus – Mainly NWOBHM bands and classical.

Stefanie – A lot of folk music. I spent most of my young life listening to it! Artists like Ron Hynes and Cecile Corbel are heavy influences on me.

Allon- I was all over the place musically. My dad was old school R&B my mom was adult contemporary/ pop and my teen years were grunge / metal amd I  have always loved classical.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

Marcus – Randy Rhoads was my guitar hero when I started to play, and still is.

Justin- I’d have to say Jon Petrucci. He’s insane on guitar

Stefanie – Ron Hynes. Ron was a singer-songwriter from Newfoundland known as “The Man of A Thousand Songs”. He was a brilliant writer and I will forever admire him. I was lucky enough to meet him a handful of times and I cherish those memories.

Allon- can’t say I looked up to anyone musician as a “hero” . I did admire Phill Collins, Mic Fleetwood and Dave Grohl as everyone 90s kid did lol

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing today?

Justin- I’m not really sure. Never really thought about that.

Marcus – well, where it is difficult to make a living as strictly a musician, I am a Senior Systems Analyst.

Stefanie – I would definitely be unemployed, haha.

Allon- probably middle management or a plumber  like my dad and uncles lol

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?

Justin- never give up hard work pays off

Marcus – Just keep on keeping on. Believe in yourself and keep at it.

Stefanie – Do NOT give up!! Even when things feel stagnant, just keep pushing.

Allon- practice patience and perseverance.
