Today, we sat down with the band Asila to talk music growing up, heroes and of course what would they be doing if they weren’t a musician. After the interview, be sure to check out their music below! Some good tunes there!

Here is the interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your surroundings?

Yeah, one could say that it’s the surroundings. People can be inspiring, life events, whether they be good or bad can inspire. Emotions like love and pain inspire a lot as well. Even just visiting awesome places and absorbing the culture and energy can be very inspiring. You just need to be open to it.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

All of us grew up listening to rock based music. Whether it was stuff like older stuff Queen, heavier stuff like Iron Maiden or some more modern stuff like Evanescence!

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

My hero is definitely Amy Lee from Evanscence. She was a huge influence. But I was also influenced a lot by other powerful singers such as Christina Aquilera and Anastacia.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

I’d probably be a teacher!

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create music?
Just start! Music is a beautiful thing and a wonderful journey. It can help and heal you and let your emotions out. Everyone interprets music differently and that’s part of the beauty of it. It’s a never ending journey! So if there is an instrument that interests you, try it out. But be ready to put in the work.
