The Houston Latino Film Festival presents the opening night film IDENTIFYING FEATURES (Sin Señales Particulares), which follows Magdalena on her journey in search of her son, who disappeared en route to the US border. Travelling through the desolate towns and landscapes of today’s Mexico she meets Miguel, a young man recently deported from the United States who is making his way home. The two accompany one another: Magdalena looking for her son, and Miguel eager to see his mother again in a territory where victims and aggressors ramble together.

“We’re excited to celebrate our fifth year by bringing another selection of diverse and unique films to local audiences. This is a milestone occasion for the Houston Latino Film Festival, and we believe this year is an equally important time to represent Latino voices in our city and beyond,” says festival director Dave Cebrero.

This year’s lineup includes over 50 short films, documentaries and features from international and local filmmakers and exclusive workshops conducted by film and TV industry professionals. Highlights include a collection of short films made by Texas filmmakers with filmmakers in attendance.

The festival begins its weekend celebration with a kick-off party for All Access badge holders on Thursday, March 19th at The Houston Event Venue (3118 Harrisburg Blvd). Special musical guest Nemegata, a mystical fierce power trio currently stretching its roots in Austin, will be providing a spacey blend of cumbia and psychedelic rock!

All-access badges are available now for $45 and include admission to the exclusive opening night party, filmmaker workshops and all screenings. Single-screening tickets will be available for $11. Badges can be purchased online at https://houstonlatinofilmfestival.org/tickets or at the venue box office. Films will be screened in English or Spanish language with English subtitles.
