(New York, NY) – March 14, 2022: Today, multi-hyphenate Hannibal Buress debuts a remix of his track “Veneers” under the name Eshu Tune featuring prolific, hip-hop mainstays Danny Brown and Paul Wall. LISTEN & WATCH HERE.

Previously released on his self-titled project Eshu Tune, “Veneers” is reinvented with additional vocals from fellow alternative hip-hop strongholds; Danny Brown offers his signature, esoteric bars while Houston rap legend Paul Wall provides the hook. The remix is accompanied by a psychedelic video directed by Kris Merc and edited by Michael Reuter.

“When I made Knee Brace, I thought I wasn’t capable of making anything more powerful, but then we made the remix to Veneers. Thanks to Paul Wall and Danny Brown for joining me on the track. Danny’s verse made me step my bars up for real because I was lollygagging on the original,” Eshu Tune says about the remix.

After teasing new music through live performances and cryptic previews on Twitter, Hannibal returned late last year with the infectious track “Knee Brace.” The song is as lyrically dexterous as it is funny, with booming production by Haile Supreme.

Hannibal will be in Austin as an official artist for SxSW beginning March 15th for several showcase performances where he plans to perform “Veneers” live, along with additional songs he has released under the “Eshu Tune” moniker. At this year’s festival, Hannibal will be performing at 3 separate showcases including Brooklyn Vegan on March 16th and Paste Magazine’s Live session as well as Brooklyn Bowl’s Family Reunion in partnership with Relix (official showcase), both on March 17th.

Paramount also just announced that Hannibal will be lending his voice to the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem animated feature which will hit theaters August 4th. He is playing the role of Genghis Frog.

In 2022, Hannibal also released a project called Eshu Tune, receiving widespread praise from American Songwriter, that said, “the work is all infused with love,” while Okayplayer raved, “Eshu is a rebirth: an opportunity to make the music he’s always wanted to make.” Hannibal derived his moniker “Eshu Tune” from Eshu, a benevolent trickster god, a fitting name for a consistently witty artist like himself. Already cementing himself as a far-reaching influence in hip-hop, Eshu Tune has contributed to verses on songs including “Doug Stamper” by Open Mike Eagle, “Ohh Shh” by Jean Grae and Quelle Chris. He has also performed alongside Statik Selektah, the Cool Kids, and Chance the Rapper, for whom he also directed a music video. He’s a regular fixture in music videos appearing in clips from Jay-Z, Anderson .Paak, Cordae, BJ the Chicago Kid, and more.

He performed at multiple festivals last year including Pitchfork in his hometown of Chicago, T-Pain’s inaugural Wiscansin Fest, AtlCampntrip, Puffcon Block Party, and SXSW. Earlier this year, Hannibal performed at Austin’s The Creek and The Cave to rave reviews, including from Austin Chronicle who had the following to say: “the show was a successful, and very meta, integration of comedy and rap, with “Veneers” and “No Whip” showing Buress at his purest – ridiculously self-aware of human ridiculousness.”

About Eshu Tune:

Hailing from Chicago, Eshu Tune is the leading rockabilly artist in the genre. Mysterious and misunderstood he keeps his creative process very guarded. He released the self-titled Eshu Tune project in April 2022, and produced four of the eight tracks. It was classified as hip hop but in his heart he knows that it’s rockabilly. When will the people also realize? I don’t know. Life is unpredictable. Since the release of the project, he’s shared the stage with Black Thought and the Roots,Little Brother, Robert Glasper, and supported Marc Rebillet on several stops of his US Tour.
