San Antonio (April 4, 2023) – GO RIO Cruises’ new River Walk ambassador and mascot, Marina, the GO RIO Turtle, emerged from her shell for the first time today, eager to help Alamo City visitors and San Antonians alike create memorable experiences as they explore the River Walk.

Marina and GO RIO “shell-a-brated” her arrival at Smoke Texas River Walk, 511 Villita Street with Katie Harvey, San Antonio Chamber Chair, Marc Anderson, President and CEO of Visit San Antonio, River Walk Friends and GO RIO Partners.

“Marina, the GO RIO Turtle, is an exciting new addition to San Antonio’s River Walk and GO RIO Cruises,” said GO RIO Spokesperson and Partner, Hope Andrade. “She likes music, art, dancing, and just having fun; but she’s also serious about celebrating our city’s history, caring for the environment, and keeping her new home beautiful.”

After mingling with San Antonio leaders and representatives of the city’s many tourist attractions, Marina hopped on a GO RIO Cruise to learn more about the city she already loves. She hinted that she hopes to become a GO RIO Boat Captain one day and share her story of how she became the GO RIO Turtle.

Marina will be exploring the city soon and is thrilled to have arrived in San Antonio just in time to join in the city’s fabled Fiesta events. Look for Marina as she dances through Fiesta festivities throughout the city!

Marina, the GO RIO Turtle, merchandise will be available at the GO RIO Beverage Bar during Fiesta, of which a percent of the proceeds will be donated to the San Antonio River Foundation — whose mission is to preserve, enhance, and transform the San Antonio River Basin as a vibrant cultural, educational, ecological, and recreational experience. Marina cares deeply about the San Antonio River and is excited to be contributing to such a wonderful cause.

“If you see Marina at Fiesta, on the River Walk, or around town at some of San Antonio’s other great locations, feel free to take a ‘shell-fie’ with her,” said Lisa Wong, GO RIO Partner. “She’ll be ‘turtley’ happy to oblige.”
