Evil Dead Rise Film Review

Evil Dead Rise is a film by director Lee Cronin starring Alyssa Sutherland, and Lily Sullivan. In the next film in the Evil Dead series. In this one we get to watch a family go through hell when an earthquake unleashes an unknown floor in an old bank-turned-apartment complex. Just as the guitar tech roadie sister Beth makes her way home to deal with a personal issue.

She finds her sister Ellie in the middle of packing to move and finds her sister is now split from her husband. Ellie sends the kids out for pizza to talk with Beth. While just arriving back at the apartment the earthquake hits the kids drop everything and try to get to safety. As the quake stops Danny notices a hole that has opened up in the floor and takes a look into the hole. Danny makes his way down the hole to the newly exposed floor making an unholy discovery that will change a lot of lives.

Danny finds a book sealed in a tomb that cracked with the earthquake he takes the book back to his apartment and some old records. Unknowing that he was about to unlock an evil that is about to ravish their lives and change their future.

I went into this film very unsure of what I was about to watch as a huge fan of the series I was on the fence for sure. I watched it and was blown away that the story was done in a way that made sense to the series. The vibe of the film was dark and creepy in the best way. The acting was nailed perfectly in my humble opinion both Ellie and Lily are outstanding in their roles.  The rest of the cast was spot on also the whole just felt right for me. I give this one a 9 out of 10 the story the acting the vibe the cinematography. Lee did a hell of a job with this film and set it up for more films. I do wish we did have an Ash Williams cameo in the film of some sort but that’s just the fan in me. If you are unsure I say give it a shot it will not disappoint. Evil Dead Rise is out now be sure to check it out.
