Cocaine Bear Blu-Ray Review

Cocaine Bear is a film directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Keri Russell, Alden Ehrenreich, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. In a off the wall based on a true events film about a bear who gets into a cocaine shipment dropped out of a plane. This lost shipment of drugs become the center of a lot of people and one bear. As the drugs are scattered in the forest it is first found by a bear. Leading it to become a coked-out bear looking for its next bump of coke. A young group of thugs on skateboards that are terrorizing the park find some of the drugs. The police and the drug dealers are on the hunt for it too.  Two kids who skip school to go to Blood Mountain also happen to find a brick of cocaine.

The bear is out for his next hit and is out for blood looking for it. The bear is an apex predator on drugs making for a hell of a ride. Each group must now face off with the bear and try to live. The young kids now have the mother (Keri Russell) looking for them with the Park Ranger. A lot of blood is about to be spilled by the bear. It’s a race to find the kids as well the drugs.

A wild ride is an understatement for this film the comedy takes hold in this film over the horror. Just don’t let that fool you the blood and gore are there for sure. Practical effects were used in this one giving it a real 80’s vibe of a film. The story is based on true events to a level you can deep dive into the backstory. I give this one a 7.5 out of 10. A fun film to check for sure and one that will have you laughing and saying that had to hurt.

The Blu-Ray comes with some fun features that are worth the watch for an alternate ending, deleted scenes, and bloopers. Be sure to watch the credits for some extra scenes. Here are the official details.
