February 23, 2024 – New York, NY – Big Picture Media is excited to be an official showcase presenter this year at SXSW 2024. In honor of Women’s History Month, BPM Live @ SXSW will present a night of female & non-male music artists to amplify their voices and music on Friday, March 15 at The Iron Bear on 6th Street in Austin, Texas. The showcase will feature BPM artists such as Cassadee Pope, LUNA AURA, Winona Fighter, FOXCULT, PRONOUN, & Smooth Brain.

The showcase will share the importance of the advancement of women and non-men in music and will be donating a portion of the sponsorship funds to Women In Music, a non-profit organization committed to advancing equality, visibility and opportunities for women in the music industry.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for us as a company. Over the last 16 years Big Picture Media has hosted over a dozen unofficial showcases in Austin during SXSW, but this will be the first year holding an “official” title. We are very proud of the showcase lineup we put together and are grateful to provide a platform for these artists to perform. We look forward to seeing you there!” shares BPM Founder, Dayna Ghiraldi-Travers.

Cassadee Pope – Over the last 15 years, CASSADEE POPE has been a lot of things to a lot of people: leader of seminal pop-punk band Hey Monday. Season 3 winner of The Voice. Platinum-selling (“Wasting All These Tears”), GRAMMY-nominated (“Think of You,” a duet with Chris Young) country singer/songwriter. Ally and activist pushing for social change and a brighter future in a backward world. But through it all – the Warped Tour parking lots, tours with Fall Out Boy and Yellowcard, CMT Awards and chart-topping singles – she’s always remained fearlessly, unapologetically herself. Now, on her brand-new single, “People That I Love Leave,” Pope returns with her most joyously authentically statement yet, effortlessly sliding into the ebullient pop-punk sound that defined the late ’00s with unbridled energy, sugar pill melodies and away message-ready wordplay.

LUNA AURA – An LA-via-Phoenix native, LUNA AURA began penning songs and performing at age 14. She draws on childhood influences like Garbage, Blur, NIN, and Gwen Stefani, and has already shared stages with The Killers, K.Flay, Muse, Weezer, Garbage, P!nk, Odesza, and more of music’s biggest names. She has also spent time on the festival market, playing KAABOO, Lost Lake, So What, EMERGE, and will be appearing at AFTERSHOCK & LOUDER THAN LIFE 2023. LUNA is an alternative powerhouse who has previously been featured on sites like PAPERMTV, and Our Culture, as well as featured in shows like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale.

Winona Fighter – The Nashville based punk band Winona Fighter is breathing new life into the resurgent punk scene, and on a mission to create punk music that is accessible and accepting to all music lovers willing to listen.Coco’s (front-woman of Winona Fighter) introduction to the Boston punk rock scene at an early age was the catalyst influence for her current sound and stage presence. Moving to Nashville gave her a task to expose all music lovers to the power of thrashable tunes. After recruiting lead guitarist Dan Fuson, they set off to do the scene Coco had left behind justice. Eventually the two of them added Austin Luther (bass/producer) to the family. The band is recognized as an energized powerhouse during their live performances. Their shows are a space where all bullshit and ego is left at the door – everyone is welcome, equal and needs to get on their fucking feet. In recent times, they have opened for the bands Incubus and Motion City Soundtrack, in addition to playing multiple sets at Bonnaroo 2023. Other recent performances include Is For Lover’s Festivals and Shiprocked 2024.

FOXCULT – FOXCULT brings together a seasoned group of trans musicians to deliver a blend of powerful and contemplative post-hardcore with the crushing dense soundscapes of shoegaze. The band recently announced their signing to Adventure Cat Records with their new single “GLACIER”, out now here. “GLACIER” serves as a follow up to previous singles “The Garden” and “Haunted”. The self-produced track was mixed by Sam Guaiana (Silverstein, Like Pacific, Young Culture, Between You & Me) and mastered by Mike Kalajian (Armor For Sleep, Papa Roach, Drug Church, Hopesfall). It pulls inspiration from post-hardcore, shoegaze and melodic hardcore to create lush textures and dynamic vocals while delivering intriguing storytelling.

PRONOUN – Following the viral success of her debut track “a million other things” (written, recorded, performed, and produced by Vellturo alone) came ‘There’s no one new around you’ EP (2016); four tracks of heartbreak, hope, anger, and every emotion in between. PRONOUN went on to perform at SXSW 2017 (NPR naming her one of the 100 acts to see) and got to work on recording her debut album in that year.In 2019 she returned with’ i’ll show you stronger’, an album full of blitzed guitars, anthemic synths, and drums so big they could fill an arena. With support and mentions from The New York Times, Pitchfork, Stereogum, and many more; Vellturo had a story yearning to be told. She toured that album with Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties as well as Jimmy Eat World.

Smooth Brain – In the face of the adversity and hostility enveloping our global community, reactions tend to skew toward the extremes: escapist joy or full-steam-ahead revolution. Smooth Brain is asking the question: Why not both? The pop-punk quintet from the tri-state area is fighting the oppression of LGBTQ people by proving not only that they exist, but that they are not going anywhere anytime soon. They are forging community through impassioned songs about love and heartbreak; confusion and nostalgia; queer joy and pure rage. To the band, those last two go hand in hand – nothing could be more in the spirit of rebellion than dancing and singing together. That’s the most crucial part: unity. Whether at a show or at home, it’s all about the music and the community … the togetherness of it all.
