This weekend, Audible, the leading creator and provider of premium audio storytelling, welcomed SXSW attendees into The Audible Sound Studio for an immersive experience of Audible’s premium music storytelling offerings, including volumes from the Words + Music series, “Origins,” and “Breakthrough.”

During the festival, Audible hosted an official SXSW panel with Grammy Award-winning artists Sara Bareilles and Daveed Diggs, joined by Preston Copley, Executive Producer of original music-storytelling at Audible, and Will Malnati, Founder & CEO of AT WILL MEDIA to discuss Audible’s newest category-defying podcast, “Breakthrough.”

On Saturday, Audible and Variety hosted a Music Storytelling panel featuring rapper, singer and actor Tobe Nwigwe and Audible’s Preston Copley. The conversation focused on Nwigwe’s career ‘origin story,” his musical influences, and the creation of the innovative Audible Original audio series “Origins.” Saturday evening, Audible and Rolling Stone hosted a special evening of music, storytelling, and refreshments to celebrate beloved songwriter Jeff Tweedy’s Please Tell My Brothers, the latest release in Audible’s groundbreaking “Words + Music” series.

The Audible Sound Studio was open to the public at SXSW from Friday, March 10 through Sunday, March 12 and included:

  • Themed listening moments, photo opportunities, DJ sets, panels, performances and daily public happy hours.

  • Audible and Rolling Stone hosted a celebratory happy hour featuring specialty refreshments and a DJ Set from vinyl DJ and comedian Nina Tarr.

  • “Origins”-inspired, made-to-fade tattoos at the “Origins x Ephemeral Tattoo Studio.”

  • Opportunities to live-record their own song, poem or story in the “Words + Music” recording booth where experts cut their recording directly onto a vinyl record.

In addition, listeners can explore music icons of all kinds sharing their lives, their works, and their minds in intimate and unexpected ways on Audible with a spotlight on curated listens in the spirit of SXSW: audible.com/ep/audible-at-sxsw. Follow along at #SXSWxAudible.
