MARCH 9-12 AT DOWNRIGHT AUSTIN

(FORMERLY THE SHERATON) 650 EAST 10th STREET & RED RIVER

New York, NY (February 29, 2024) – UK House is excited to bring two exclusive experiences to SXSW 2024: the official US screening of Skepta’s celebrated debut film, Tribal Mark, and a state-of-the-art fully functional virtual production studio delivered by Disguise (Adele, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran).

Skepta, one of the most important influences on the global music scene, makes his directorial debut with this short film. He is one of the first artists from the UK grime scene to break into the US market. In addition to the screening of Tribal Mark, there will be a Q&A, followed by a live DJ performance by Skepta.

After a sold-out UK tour, Tribal Mark, the coming-of-age short film co-directed and executively produced by Joseph Adenuga, known globally as Skepta, and long-time collaborator Dwight Okechukwu is going worldwide. With what press are calling the birth of ‘the Black James Bond’ (British Vogue, BBC, Hypebeast) Tribal Mark signals the birth of a cinematic universe centered around the Black Secret Service.

With a 90% minority ethnic cast and production team, a first of its kind in British cinema Tribal Mark serves as a confronting tool in bringing to attention important societal issues. The creative direction of the film can be attributed to the creators’ rich backgrounds spanning contemporary art, fashion, and, of course, music. The film helps showcase the UK’s innovation, creativity, and diversity in the creative industry and beyond.

UK House, organized by the UK Government, will showcase the future of the world’s digital economy. HM Trade Commissioner for North America, Kunal Khatri says “I am very excited to support the best of UK creativity, innovation, and spirit from this year’s SXSW. From the US screening of Skepta’s powerful film Tribal Mark, to drone art creator Celestial and Kouo’s AI Emotion Analytics platform, we’re showcasing the best of British talent, ingenuity, and business. SXSW is a fantastic opportunity to build new connections and collaboration with UK businesses so make sure to stop by UK House at Downright Austin.”

In another first, UK House partner Disguise is bringing its state-of-the-art virtual production studio to SXSW for the very first time and is setting up shop at UK House. Visitors to the venue at   Downright Austin can partake in various activities powered by Disguise where they can:
