This Friday, The KVB will release Unity – Remixes EP via Invada Record (pre-order). The EP includes reworked versions of songs featured on their acclaimed album Unity by Drab Majesty, trentemøller, Moa Moa, Principleasure, maXlon & the band themselves.
In anticipation of Friday’s release date the band is sharing trentemøller remix of “Lumens.” On the reworked version of song trentemøller says, “I really love KVB’s original version but I wanted to see where I could take the song, especially the vocal melody. So I basically build up a whole new instrumental tune around the vocals. With brand new guitar and synth progressions , a new bass line and some simple programmed drums that fitted this new vibe of the song.”
Last month the band released the opening remix “Blind” which sees Drab Majesty deliver a fervent slice of cold wave that builds to a pulsing crescendo (stream).
About the upcoming release The KVB says, “It is always fascinating for us to hear other artists remix our work and each one of these remixes takes our tracks in its own unique electronic direction, without ever losing the sense of the original song. We were also glad to continue our tradition of reinterpreting one of our own tracks on “Structural Index (After Hours Version),” which is something we have done for each of our last three albums. We strongly suggest turning these up loud and losing yourself in the rhythms of a new kind of Unity.” Unity is the most potent and immediate record to date in the The KVB’s immaculate canon. Produced and mixed by Andy Savours (Black Country New Road, My Bloody Valentine, The Horrors) Unity represents an exciting development in the band’s sonic journey. Across the ten songs, The KVB masterfully pull together their trademark components; radiant guitars, textural synths and an ear for a moody, brooding melody all presented with with a renewed dynamism. Formed in 2010 by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Wood as a solo project, The KVB got started with a number of limited cassette and vinyl releases before vocalist/keyboardist/visual artist Kat Day joined Wood in 2011. The band have released several critically acclaimed albums and EP over the last decade before signing to Invada Records for their previous album Only Now Forever. The KVB have also announced August North American tour dates. The upcoming tour will kick off on August 8 in San Diego and will include show in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City and more. The tour will also include a festival performance at Psycho Las Vegas. Tickets will be on sale this Friday and all upcoming shows are listed below.
