San Japan 2023 provided San Antonio with top notch music, anime, and much more! San Japan has been a San Antonio institution for many years. We have been going to San Japan for many years to enjoy the culture that comes with the massive event. Bernard and myself were able to attend San Japan on Friday. I was able to come back to San Japan on Sunday with my family as well.

Friday

Berns and I were able to walk up into the convention center to get our badges. For this years San Japan, I was able to do a vlog and a walkthrough noted below on Youtube. You may see some familiar faces of people who we have interacted and talked to in years past. Anyways, the first thing we did was walk around the convention center floor in artist alley. We saw some amazing artists showcasing their products during San Japan. We also looked at the vendors to see what kind of items they had to sell. We were able to see so many creative items from these vendors that had us shaking in our boots. Afterwards, we headed upstairs to check out the Bitforce Jamspace where musicians are performing during the convention. I was able to see one of our favorite musicians perform which is Gross Angel.

Gross is a San Japan staple having played multiple times at the convention throughout the years. His music style is more video game oriented with a mix of rap that will have you jamming hard. After Gross Angel performance, we headed downstairs to the video game area. We saw a tournament going on from Texas Gaming Empire as well as open consoles to play with as well.

Sunday

I was able to get the family together to take them to San Japan. We arrived to a PACKED downtown of people ready to attend San Japan. I never had trouble looking for parking downtown and on this day, I was struggling. I was fortunate to find parking, but it was a short walk to the convention center!

Once we were able to get our badges situated, we walked into artist alley. On this day, it was completely different from Friday, as it was so jam packed. I went to a few vendors to buy some of their products and many were already sold out. I’m like oh really, but its only 11:30am!

I didn’t realize the amount of people coming on Sunday to shop around the convention center. After a few purchases with a few vendors, we were able to walk around the dealer’s area. The cars were so slick and clean as we looked at each and everyone of them. Afterwards, we walked around the dealer’s area and of course purchased a few plushies as well. Once done, we went to the crafts room but it was packed. There was no where to sit as many people were there creating some neat arts and crafts items. Afterwards, we went to get something to eat and relax. So much walking at San Japan but it provided a fun family engagement time!
