BERLIN – May 8, 2023 – Duru – About Mole Rats and Depression, the 2D puzzle platformer exploring mental health and friendship from developer Twisted Ramble Games, is now available on Steam for PC and Mac. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for the future.
In a South African mole rat colony, every member serves a purpose. As a gatherer, Tuli’s ability to collect food and other resources helps her community thrive. But once a mysterious black creature begins following her, sapping her passion and patience, Tuli’s work gets harder with each passing day.
Learn to adapt and overcome the presence of Bel, the dark shadow, on an emotional journey through Tuli’s colony and surrounding areas. As a manifestation of the depression developing inside Tuli, Bel works against the mole rat’s best interests – eating items, moving objects, and being a nuisance. Adapt to Bel’s presence by learning to work around the shadow creature, as Tuli leaps, paints, and interacts with colony members.
Solve puzzles and platforming challenges by painting objects into the scenery. Harness Bel’s more destructive tendencies and transform them into positive opportunities by creating impromptu puzzle solutions to progress. Interact with colony members and Bel through beautifully composed, wordless pictographs that convey emotion and meaning without language.
