(New York, NY) March 7th, 2024 – Music Finland has announced two events at this year’s SXSW: WTF – Welcome to Finland Reception and Showcase on Wednesday, March 13th with live music from Lxandra and Blind Channel, and Ja Ja Ja – Nordic Music Biz Mixer on Tuesday, March 12th.
WTF – Welcome to Finland SXSW Showcase will offer an opportunity to mingle with the Finnish music and creative industry, as well as global industry leaders, influencers, and visionaries. Starting at 7PM, enjoy free drinks until two of Finland’s greatest current artists, Lxandra and Blind Channel, take the stage. Lxandra is an alt-pop songwriter, singer and producer, weaving together poignant lyrics with hooky melodies and delicate piano accompaniment. Blind Channel’s music is self-described as violent-pop––hooky yet fiery nu-metal revival. Together, the two acts will showcase the breadth of Finland’s music scene. From Lxandra’s debut album finding placement in renowned TV shows and movies such as Grey’s Anatomy, to Blind Channel’s “DEADZONE” breaking into Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock chart, both acts have seen mounting international success from Finland to the US. The WTF showcase will be each act’s only performance at SXSW, so it is not to be missed.
Hosted by Music Finland, Export Music Sweden, Iceland Music, Music Export Denmark, and NOMEX, the pan-Nordic platform of Nordic Music Export Offices, Ja Ja Ja – Nordic Music Biz Mixer returns for SXSW! Discover the international efforts of Nordic music companies and their expansion into the US markets and network with industry leaders, influencers, and visionaries as we celebrate the power of Nordic collaboration. The mixer will be held on the rooftop of the Innovation Bridge Europe House at the Thompson Hotel, 4th floor.
