SAN ANTONIO, TX (JANUARY 30, 2024) Montufar releases DEFECTOS as their 4th single to date; available Feb. 2, 2024 on all digital platforms. To not get into further detail, or to even corrupt the personal perspective of the listener; the song is about enjoying the time spent with someone who has let you down a million times.
Montufar introduces a new side to their sonic sound, while still staying true to their authentic musical personality. With influences from modern alternative rock pop acts to classic 80s songs that their parent’s listen to at the time of their youth; DEFECTOS is a latin-alt-pop song combined with the momentum of a classic stadium rock anthem.
DEFECTOS was recorded and produced from June to October of 2023 at their home studio in Texas. Recording Defectos was a new process for them, since they’re usually in the studio with a producer guiding them through the recording. This helped Montufar discover and experiment with new realms within their dreamy soundscape at late hours in the night.
DEFECTOS couldn’t be done without the help from other great musicians that added their compelling talent to the project. Percussions were recorded and played by Pipe Ceballos (member of Zoe and Leon Larregui) at Indiana Studios in Mexico City, the sax was recorded and played by John Waugh (member of The 1975) in the UK, the bass was done by Valeria Cruz (part of Leon Larregui’s live band), and the keys were done by Brenda Livier (part Montufar’s live band).
The song was mixed by Eduardo de La Paz, who has mixed for artists like Jesse & Joy, Porter, and Siddartha. The mastering was done by Erick Urbina, who has mastered for artists like Pepe Aguilar, Ximena Sarinana, and Caloncho.
It’s easy to say that this a new era for the sibling duo Montufar, and an exciting time for their followers to enjoy the music and revisit personal memories from their lives. Montufar’s main purpose for their music will never change; which is for their music to be the soundtrack to the lives and memories of their followers. The music Montufar creates is for the personal use of anybody that comes across it.
About Montufar
Montufar was formed by siblings Victor and Maria Montufar in 2019; during the demo sessions of ‘Ojos’ in their guest restroom. In 2020 they recorded ‘Ojos’ at Chapel Studios, and then released the song in late 2021. Since then, Montufar has been gaining attention from many fans along with media outlets; comparing their sound to the 80s but still in complete tact with modern day music. In 2022 Montufar released 2 singles; ‘Escaparnos’ and ‘Acércate.’ ‘Escaparnos’ got them on their first cover of a Spotify playlist called Fresh Finds Latin. During 2023 the duo had the opportunity to perform for the first time ever to two sold out crowds; one was a headlining sold out show at a venue in Mexico City, and the second was as an opening act for Jesse & Joy in San Antonio, TX. For 2024 the siblings have new music that will expand the universe that they have created within their music; this includes collaborations with musicians from Zoé and The 1975.
