Today (June 3rd) pop-punk phenom LØLØ returns with her latest single “THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!” (via Hopeless Records) accompanied with a music video. Equal parts vulnerable and powerful, “THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!” is a raw exploration of LØLØ’s personal struggle with anxiety. LØLØ channels a wildness in the new track; which churns with frenetic energy, heaving and thrashing towards the explosive chorus.

“THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!” starts gently, the melancholic guitar lick pulling listeners deeper into LØLØ’s dark world as chaos slowly builds, with rhythmic drums and distorted guitars adding to the feeling of LØLØ’s mounting panic. Then the chorus erupts, cutting through the noise with energetic clarity. LØLØ’s vocal strength, combined with a note of vulnerable desperation in her performance gives the track a unique sense of wholeness.

LØLØ shares this of the single:

“I wrote this song about experiencing crippling anxiety. That feeling when you REALLY wanna get out of bed, but you just can’t move. I used to play THE FLOOR IS LAVA game as a kid, but as I got older, I started to feel like the floor actually WAS lava. I felt so stuck in my own head and body and didn’t know why. I wrote this song to let out all those feelings.”

In February, LØLØ shared her single “debbie downer” with Maggie Lindemann. LØLØ expertly turned the infamous 2000 movie Bring It On‘s cheer chant “It’s cold in here” into an intoxicating and undeniable hook in a song that’s all about being the odd girl out. The track was accompanied by a charming music video (dir. Jake Johnston) that portrays LØLØ and Maggie as high school outcasts who team up to unite the school’s “untouchables”.

In the early spring, LØLØ followed up “debbie downer” with her single “junkie,” a throbbing, desperate ode to a toxic love affair. Sonically addictive with a newfound, heart-wrenching maturity, “junkie” is a pop-punk hymn for anyone worshiping at the altar of unrequited love.

LØLØ will next be seen playing at Lollapalooza and a string of shows with Waterparks, Neck Deep, Mayday Parade, and others for the Sad Summer Festival tour.

“THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!” is out now.

More Info:

Born and raised in Toronto and now calling LA home, LØLØ has become an undeniable presence in the pop-punk genre. The singer-songwriter has created a striking presence both online and on stage with her effortlessly cool attitude and sharp lyricism. In 2020, LØLØ created a buzz on TikTok where she reimagined music’s biggest hits. Putting her adept lyrical skills to use, she rewrote verses from the opposite perspective of the song’s subject, while still maintaining the original integrity of each song’s tempo and rhyme scheme. Most notably, her take on Taylor Swift’s “Betty” from “Betty’s perspective” caught the attention of Swifties and went viral on the platform. In late 2021, LØLØ released her electric EP “overkill,” which came directly on the heels of her 36-stop US tour with pop-punk titans New Found Glory and Less Than Jake. LØLØ has been compared to Paramore and Avril Lavigne by Billboard, as well as receiving critical acclaim from Paper Magazine, MTV, Kerrang!, American Songwriter, Ones to Watch, Alternative Press, and many more. People Magazine called her an “Emerging Artist making their mark in music” and to date she’s amassed over 35 million streams on Spotify with her numbers continuing to climb exponentially. LØLØ is on the brink of superstardom, so stay tuned as there’s much more to come.
