Interview:

How did you get your start in music?
(Nick) I was always keen on music since I was a little kid. I remember the days I was taking piano lessons, being about 12 years old. I didn’t like studying theory so much and I just wanted to experiment with my own music creations. So, I started composing my newbie stuff on my synthesizer till the age of 15. Then I discovered the rock genre and found out what GUITAR is! Self-taught at first, I became familiar with it and later I attended some classes. Meanwhile the love for bass was lurking through all these years, as I always loved how a song can be based on it. Hearing basslines and understanding them always intrigued me! Today, I count 7 years as an active bass player and feel very happy to cooperate with my bandmates in this music journey with Sebia!

(Paulos) When I was 6 years old, my brother gave me a cassette. Listening to that intro… the sound of rain and that bell changed my life. It was Black Sabbath! After 1998, when my brother was a teenager, my mother gave him a drumset as a gift. I was observing him, until one day he showed me how to play too. I was a self-taught drummer and I started playing my first songs by myself at the age of 8. My first band was at 13, with some of my schoolmates.

(Konstantinos) 12 years old. That is when I started listening to a variety of CDs from Greek artists (Tsitsanis, Kazantzidis).  At that time, I could not explain what I felt while I was listening to music. It seemed to awaken something in me. Every note, every chord progression, the combinations were magical! It wasn’t long until I started learning Mpouzouki. I wanted to recreate what I was listening to. Two years later, I discovered the Classical guitar. Immediately after I started listening to Rock and Metal bands and this was it. At the age of 17, on Christmas, me and my best friend decided to go buy our first guitars after school. We both picked up the guitar and joined the local Conservatory.

What type of music did you listen to while growing up?
(Paulos) I started with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, which I listen to till today. Later I discovered more genres of rock and metal.

(Nick) That is an interesting question. I can say for sure that I went through many musical taste changes till today. As a kid, I listened to classical music, due to my piano lessons. I thought it was a bit boring (how could I know…). Later I got used to hip hop music for some years. Then, in high school, I listened to ACDC and Iron Maiden for the 1st time. Then I saw the light, I found myself, I just knew what to do.

What are fun stories you can share while you’re in the studio recording music?
(Paulos) I‘ll start by saying that our studio recordings as Sebia were one of the most enjoyable and full of fun things I ever did. We all tried to be present in everyone’s recording sessions so we could keep the hype! One of the funniest things was when I was teasing Leonidas by squeezing his ears when we tried to listen to what we had recorded. Our recording sessions were definitely a significant time for us as a band and a big lesson for our music path.

(Nick)The recording era of our first album was perfect. Irreplaceable experience. We learn a lot. We had countless funny moments being all together, I really can’t pick just one. Anyway, we laugh a lot and have a great time because we are good friends regardless of the band!

(Konstantinos) In every gig, rehearsal or studio recording, I always bring my GoPro. I have captured some hell of a fun moments. It is so hard to just say one moment. Good news is that you will soon find bloopers of those moments on YouTube as I will finish editing!

What is your latest song or album you can share with us?
A song from our upcoming album, named “Voices” was recently released as a music video.
We are super-excited and eager to share our debut album Friday 9th June 2023.
