Interview:

What is your inspiration to write your music? Is it your
surroundings?

We are driven by an impulse that comes from deep within that drives us to create.  All of us have something to share.  For us, it’s the language of music that we choose to share in.  I think all four of us were inspired by music that provides a strong emotional release, and a depth of production that creates a feeling of getting lost in another world.  That’s what we aim to do with our music.  The beautiful pine forests and rolling foothills of the area we live in certainly set a tone.

What type of music did you listen to growing up?

We all have pretty diverse tastes ranging from alternative rock, prog, classic rock, gothic music, metal, grunge, west coast hip-hop, indie, post-rock, and histrionic symphonic Broadway music.  Somehow it all goes into the hopper when we get together and write music together.

Is there someone you looked up as a hero?

I think one band we collectively look up to is Mogwai – they helped define a genre, remained an underground, independent band, and continue to expand their sound and tour the world after thirty years while still being very much themselves.  There’s tons of others we could mention.

If you weren’t a musician, would you be doing today?

Probably digging a bomb shelter large enough to house ourselves and our immediate cult family.

What advice do you have for our fans out there that want to create
music?

Do it, and keep doing it.  Nothing happens overnight.  Don’t be shy about putting yourself out there – have confidence but also know that you are somewhere between horrible and moderately listenable.  That’s the beautiful tightrope line we artists have to walk.  Hopefully we wind up on the “listenable” side eventually.  You tell us!
