ILL REASONING, a metal band hailing from Chile, has recently unleashed their latest single “Immolation,” a track that encapsulates the band’s dedication to creating hard and heavy music without compromise. Following their self-titled debut EP, “Immolation” continues to explore the depths of metal, drawing inspiration from the raw power of bands like Napalm Death, Slipknot, and Pantera.

The band’s approach to songwriting is refreshingly straightforward. “We don’t really think too much when it comes to write a song, it’s just a kind of inspiration that flows straight,” they explain. This organic process, where ideas seamlessly transition from mind to strings, is evident in “Immolation.” Written alongside the tracks on their 2022 EP, the single doesn’t signify a drastic evolution but rather a continuation of their established sound.

“Immolation” distinctively carries a death-metal vibe, yet ILL REASONING strives to infuse freshness into this traditional genre. The band believes that groove is the key to writing unique death-metal riffs. “We try to keep our writing process open to different ideas, always brutal and extreme but also as fresh as possible,” they state. This openness to diverse influences, even from outside the genre, contributes to the distinctiveness of their music.

“Immolation” delves into the societal pressures of conformity, symbolizing the death of individuality in a cynical and plastic society. The song reflects on the struggle of people who feel compelled to disguise their true selves to fit into social norms. “The title represents the death of the real self, death of opinion, of thoughts, of interests and tastes of the individual,” the band articulates, highlighting the thematic intensity of their music.

Despite being from Chile, ILL REASONING doesn’t feel a strong connection to the local metal scene, primarily due to their geographical distance from the capital. This disconnection, however, might be a blessing in disguise, possibly contributing to the uniqueness of their sound. The band hopes listeners worldwide will appreciate the distinct vibe of their music and engage with the intention and lyrics of “Immolation.”

While the band acknowledges influences from iconic groups like Napalm Death, Slipknot, and Pantera, they find it challenging to pinpoint a specific band that they closely resemble. “It’s a mix of tons of bands, or sometimes taking a particular idea that we liked from a band’s song, but not necessarily fully influenced by them,” they reveal. This eclectic mix of influences is like sugar in tea – integral yet indistinguishable in the final blend.

As ILL REASONING forges ahead, they remain true to their essence, creating music that is both brutal and innovative, a testament to their unyielding passion for metal.
