Along with the tour announcement, Homeboy Sandman shares a new video single “Human,” which sees the prolific lyricist rhyme over Little Simz’ Gorilla produced by Inflo. Touring has been frequent for Homeboy Sandman in 2023. He kicked off the year with five-dates in Florida before heading over to Europe to tour. Through his imprint Dirty Looks, Homeboy Sandman presented and performed in a showcase at SXSW in Austin. Despite being on the road, the decorated emcee is always writing and while performing in New Haven this past month, Homeboy Sandman found inspiration from Little Simz’ song Gorilla produced by Inflo and wasted no time putting together his latest release.
Homeboy Sandman explains the making of the video:
“DJ spun the original of this track (“Gorilla” by Little Simz) on Saturday in New Haven. I found the instrumental on Tuesday morning, loaded it in my phone for the long drive to Nebraska. wrote the song overnight on the trip. laid a demo on garageband when we got to the hotel. rocked the show. shot the video the next day in Nebraska before heading home using the demo. drove from Nebraska straight to the studio to record the official version. Dave mixed and mastered it right after we laid it. sent it to Art Morera (the director) to replace the demo under the video. boom. done. God.”
