Sunderland, UK, Tuesday 17th January, 2023 – British Esports, the national body set up to support grassroots esports in the UK, has extended its partnership with the British Basketball Federation to support the participation of Great Britain in the eFIBA Open, scheduled to take place in late January 2023.
eFIBA Season 1, the inaugural season of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) official NBA® 2K23 esports tournament, organised by FIBA and operated by ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), sees 30 National Federations across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East compete for the title of Conference Champions.
Consisting of seven online regional events across the various FIBA regions, the European Qualifiers take place on Sunday 22nd January 2023 when Great Britain take on Turkey in their opening game, and the European Regional Finals landing on Wednesday 25th January 2023.
The player roster for the Great Britain team competing in eFIBA Season 1 includes:

“This is another great opportunity for Great Britain to be part of an emerging basketball genre.” said a British Basketball Federation spokesperson. “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the British Esports Federation, given its knowledge and experience in the field, and we’re sending all our support to Great Britain as they prepare to compete in the Regional Qualifiers later this month.”
