Developer and Publisher Tripwire Interactive Invites Players to Join the Fight Against Hordes of Bioengineered Monstrosities in the Next Installment of the Legendary Killing Floor Franchise

ROSWELL, Ga. — Aug. 22, 2023 — Following the exclusive reveal during the Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live event, developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive is excited to announce that Killing Floor 3, the highly anticipated next chapter in the studio’s wildly successful flagship franchise is currently in development for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), the PlayStation®5 computer entertainment system, and the Xbox Series X|S console system. Since the release of the original Killing Floor in 2009, and the sequel Killing Floor 2 in 2016, over 28 million players around the globe have joined the battle for survival against hordes of horrific Zeds across PC and consoles. Over that time, Tripwire has engaged and grown the massive Killing Floor community through the steady release of free and premium post-launch content, with industry-leading games-as-a-service (GaaS) support. Now, harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5, Tripwire will build upon the legacy of the series, realizing its gruesome graphical vision and embracing its dark dystopian tone to deliver the next terrifying evolution in action/horror with Killing Floor 3.

As a lifelong horror fan, it’s been an honor to lead our passionate development team as we create Killing Floor 3,” said Bryan Wynia, Studio Creative Director at Tripwire Interactive. “We’re extremely excited for fans to finally experience the world we’ve been building.”

It’s hard to believe that Killing Floor is almost 15 years old now,” said Alan Wilson, Co-Founder and CEO at Tripwire Interactive. “We’ve provided free support to the player base all that time, through two incarnations, so now we’re beyond excited to start showing you what mayhem the next iteration of the franchise will bring you!”

The Battle Begins with Nightfall in Killing Floor 3

Killing Floor 3 is the next installment in the legendary co-op action/horror FPS series. The year is 2091, 70 years after the events in Killing Floor 2, and megacorp Horzine has produced the ultimate army: an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds. Now, the only thing standing between these infernal creations and the future of humanity is the rebel rogue group known as Nightfall. This intense first-person shooter puts players in the role of a Nightfall specialist, joining forces with up to five teammates as they battle through a war-ravaged, dystopian future, surviving unrelenting waves of Zeds, unlocking new skills, and building the ultimate arsenal.
