LOS ANGELES, California – Jan. 17, 2024 – Atlas Wept, the retro-inspired RPG mixing turn-based combat and bullet hell action by solo developer Kbojisoft, sets out on a dual narrative-driven emotional journey on PC via Steam today. Guide two groups of characters through alternating chapters in a humanist adventure melding retro inspirations with modern sensibilities.

Toggle between two parties of adventurous children traversing a bizarre planet vaguely resembling Earth. Dezi and Charlie take charge, leading the search to uncover a sinister force plaguing their world. Meanwhile, Hal and Lucy embark on a journey with Gigi, the robotic dog. Both narratives intersect as the team tries to stop a menacing being known only as the Grins.

Witness the eclectic children mature as the story tackles challenging themes of humanity. To confront the cruelties of the world, these wayward heroes must rely on their bonds with one another while grappling with the complexities of adolescence. At its core, Atlas Wept examines compassion and the lasting impact of even the smallest dose of empathy.

Traverse stunning, pixelated environments like moss caverns, underground temples, and towering mountains. Find out what lies within an eerie abandoned train station, or gaze at the ickiness of a giant garbage dump. Explore each location and face off against the Grins and other foes to put a stop to the destructive spell engulfing the world.

Fend off enemies in turn-based combat enhanced with bullet hell-inspired mechanics. Ready party members for attack and swiftly dodge oncoming assaults by completing minigames. Inflict ailments, stun enemies, and deal massive damage to secure victory. While inspired by classic RPGs, Atlas Wept challenges genre tropes and offers a gameplay loop accessible to all.

“I’m thrilled to see Atlas Wept to fruition, and believe there’s something in it for everyone,” said Robbie Charlotte Lee, Owner and Founder of Kbojisoft. “While it draws inspiration from the Mother series, Atlas Wept tells an engrossing narrative that puts into question our perspective on humanity while delivering an enjoyable experience.”

Atlas Wept is out now on PC via Steam for $7.99 USD with English-language support. For more information, please explore the official Atlas Wept website, and follow Kbojisoft on Twitter/X.
