NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 1, 2023) – Today, Friday, Sept. 1, Alternative Rock artist Grimzlee released his fourth single of 2023, “Leave Me”, featuring fellow Alternative artist deer death. Since his first release in 2022, Grimzlee has achieved over 4 million streams of his music on Spotify, with his recent release “Miss Reaper” surpassing 2.5 million Spotify streams.

With 190,000 monthly Spotify listeners to please, Grimzlee feeds his fanbase with “Leave Me”, a true earworm for shoegaze fans with a dirty bass line opening the song. He begs listeners to relieve him of his misery as he tries time and time again to escape an unhealthy yet deep attachment to a lover. The song’s title stands in juxtaposition to the reality of his relationship, as he begs her not to leave him even though he ends up burned every time.

“‘Leave Me’ is a heavy, emotional, melodic song about the dark side of a relationship. It revolves around staying with someone who is ruining every aspect of your individuality. You want to leave, but you always fall back into the repetitive cycle of a folie à deux. The song takes inspiration from the shoegaze genre along with heavy alternative rock. Deer Death, who is an amazing artist in the alternative rock and shoegaze world, is featured on the song. He takes the track to a new level with his verse,” says Grimzlee.

Produced by Grimzlee and co-written with Deer Death, “Leave Me” is the latest cross-genre single to join this Nashville artist’s alternative discography. Grimzlee was born to break the musical box of Nashville’s country reputation. He draws influence from Foo Fighters, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, Slipknot, Deftones, Lil Peep, POORSTACY and more.

You poor damn thing,

taste of metal in your mouth

supposed to even you out

All my thoughts are going gray.

I wrestle each day

with a change that never stays

and a happiness that fades,

but could you

Kill me forever?

Would you

give me the pleasure?

Addicted

to the way that

you cut me then

stitch me up.

When I bleed,

this heaven’s hell.

Please never leave me.

“Grimzlee combines ethereal textures with catchy melodies and honest lyrics about persevering through mental struggles. His personal blend of pop, rock and alternative elements reveals how precisely dialed in his vision is. His artistry, marketing and steadfast work ethic are bound to catapult him above the surface of the digital sea,” says Tim Hutchins, lead guitarist for metal band Sydewynder.

About Grimzlee

From the cicada-singing summers of Hartsville, South Carolina, to the rolling hills of Nashville, Tennessee, Grimzlee is breaking the traditional genre box associated with Music City. Grimzlee brings electro-punk beats with haunting melodies, crossing multiple genres with his unique sound. This “melancholy but hopeful” sound master grew up on the heavy bass lines of Metallica, Van Halen, and Asking Alexandra, and is highly influenced by Foo Fighters and Bring Me The Horizon. Fans find themselves headbanging along to tracks as they cross boundaries between alternative rock/pop, experimental post-hardcore and metal with pop punk homages.

Music’s newest madman hit the ground running, playing in the metal band Atrial for four years before launching his solo project in April of 2022. In just over a year, Grimzlee has passed the 140,000 monthly Spotify listener milestone and over 1.5 million streams on Miss Reaper, a notable accomplishment for independent acts. To create a “nostalgic feeling that’s new,” Grimzlee self-produces to secure the perfect soundscape for every song.
